PREDICTION CUP!!!

Here are this weekend's predictions from CT and Syl. They disagreed on every single game, so it promises to be lively.

Charlton v Bolton, CT: 0-2 Syl: 1-1
Fulham v Sheff Utd, CT: 1-1 Syl: 2-0
Liverpool v West Ham, CT: 2-0 Syl: 0-0
Man City v Arsenal, CT: 0-2 Syl: 1-3
Tottenham v Everton, CT: 2-1 Syl: 1-0
Watford v Man Utd, CT: 0-4 Syl: 0-2
Wigan v Reading, CT: 1-2 Syl: 0-0
Aston Villa v Newcastle, CT: 1-1 Syl: 2-2
Blackburn v Chelsea, CT: 0-2 Syl: 1-2

Meanwhile, some of you have been wondering how this EXCITING COMPETITION will actually work. Good question. Well, with 8 people -- currently me, CT, Syl, Geoff (deceased), Helen, Riis, Rich, Adam -- my plan was to have the first set of games be quarter final of a knock-out tournament.

But the PREDICTION CUP is not closed to new members. Not by a long shot. So let me know if you'd like to play -- we can make the last one or two ties three-way events, and saucy ones at that.

First blood Goodwin!

The first casualty of war is The Truth. It seems that the second is Geoff Goodwin, who was this weekend sensationally booted from the PREDICTION CUP by his kid sister, Helen Goodwin. The scores finished 8-9 in Goodwin Jr's favor. "It's never nice to lose to one's sister", wailed Goodwin Sr., "but coming as it does just one year after England's emphatic victory in the Ashes, this loss was particularly hard to swallow". Meanwhile, reports indicate that the third casualty of war is Adam Alter, who props up the Boot Room league after the first round of matches. "It's a marathon, not a sprint", sobbed Alter, failing to note that you'll lose a marathon too if you run slowly.

Congratulations to soccer fanatics and Premiership experts Leif and Joe, who are currently leading the league.
